Short answers to the questions we hear most. If yours is not here, ask us.
Is the trademark search on this site free?
Yes. The instant check is free and gives an indicative result straight away. The comprehensive search by our attorneys is a paid service, and you can request a quote from the results.
Does the instant check search the official register?
No. It reviews the wording of your mark and suggests classes. It does not look at marks already filed in Iran; the comprehensive search does that.
What does the comprehensive search include?
A check of identical and similar marks already registered or applied for in the relevant classes and related classes, including phonetic matches and Persian-script versions, followed by a written opinion on the risk.
Who can own a trademark in Iran?
Individuals and companies, whether based in Iran or abroad, can apply. Owners abroad usually act through a local representative under a power of attorney.
Do I need to file in Persian?
The application is processed in Persian, and documents in other languages may need translating. Your mark itself can be in Latin letters, Persian script or both.
How many classes can one application cover?
That depends on the filing rules at the time and on your goods and services. We advise on the most cost-effective way to cover the classes you need.
What is a discounted filing quote?
When you request a filing from the search results, we send a quote with a discount on our professional fee for that application.
Can I challenge a mark that is already registered?
Sometimes. Cancellation or invalidation may be possible on grounds such as bad faith, earlier rights or non-use. Opposing an application before registration is usually easier.
How do I keep my registration valid?
Use the mark, keep owner details up to date and renew before the renewal date shown on your certificate.
Can you help with patents and designs too?
Yes. Patent and design searches are available on request now, and instant checks for them are coming to the search page soon.
Still deciding?
The fastest way to get a useful answer is to run your mark through the search. The result shows where the mark would be filed and what to watch out for.
